We need your help to make the Northfields Allotments Halloween Trail happen
🎃 We need your help to make the Northfields Allotments Halloween Trail happen
Our much-loved Halloween Trail is back on Saturday 31 October, and this year we're expecting up to 3,000 visitors.
The event has been entirely volunteer-led for over a decade. Nobody involved in running the allotments or putting on Halloween is paid — it happens because people from our community give up some of their time to make it possible.
Unfortunately, this year we still have a significant number of volunteer slots that we haven't been able to fill.
Without enough volunteers, we simply cannot run the event safely. We now need to decide whether we can go ahead for the full planned opening hours, whether we need to significantly shorten the event, or, if we cannot find enough help, whether we have to cancel it altogether.
We really don't want that to happen. Halloween at the allotments has become a much-loved local event, and we'd much rather spend the day welcoming everyone through the gates than closing them early — or not opening them at all.
So we're asking our local community for some help.
If you're 18 or over and can spare a couple of hours, please consider signing up for one of our available volunteer slots:

You don't need any previous experience. We'll explain everything you need to know, and there will be experienced volunteers on hand throughout the event to support you. All we ask is that you're happy to muck in and help us keep the event running safely and smoothly.
As a small thank-you, volunteers will get food during their shift, including vegetarian options, soft drinks while volunteering and a free drink from the bar afterwards. You'll also get free entry to the Halloween Trail for you and a friend after your shift.
We're enormously grateful to everybody who already gives their time to the allotments and our events, and to anyone who can step forward and help us this Halloween. Even filling one volunteer slot makes a real difference.
If you can't volunteer yourself, we'd also really appreciate you sharing this with friends, neighbours or local groups who might be able to help. ❤️🎃
